Embrace a piece of southwestern Indiana's history as Dr. Mike Strezewski, Professor of Professor of Anthropology, USI, presents “A Slice of Civilization on the Indiana Frontier: The Dry-Goods Store (1815-1835).”

 In early nineteenth century southwestern Indiana, manufactured goods were hard to find. The dry-goods store was the place where these could be found.  Using data from three dry-goods stores, this talk will cover such questions as: where did merchants get their goods, how were they transported, and what types of items were found in a dry goods store of the 1820s and 1830s.
